Extend your probes lifetime

Tips on how to maintain your ultrasound probes

Connecting and disconnecting probes

You should “freeze” the image before plugging in and plugging out the probe.

We recommend turning off the ultrasound machine before removing the probe, as this can help prevent damage from changes in voltage.

Leakage-Test

A leakage test should be carried out regularly!

In order to ensure the safety of the patient and to detect damage to the probe at an early stage, the leakage test should ideally be carried out before each examination.

Attention cables

Use the provided brackets for cables and probes.

To prevent damage from dropped probes and cable breakage, make sure you affix the cable and the probe to the designated mounts.

Hantieren

Pay careful attention when handling cables.

Avoid contact with skin, sweat and corrosive fluids to prevent possible yellowing.
To ensure a long service life for your cables, you should avoid situations in which cables could develop kinks and dents.

Storage

After use, the probe should be disinfected and kept in a contamination-protected,
closed container.

Probes in their cases should be stored in a dry area to prevent damage resulting from condensation, such as the corrosion of sensitive electronic components.

Disinfection

Not all disinfectants are effective for all types of contamination.

Make sure that the disinfectants you use, including the strength of the solution and the duration of exposure are suitable for the particular probe.

CLEANING & DISINFECTION OF ULTRASONIC PROBES

  • Disconnect the probe from the device

  • Remove gel residues from the probe with a soft paper towel

  • Do not use sharp objects for cleaning

  • Use a sponge to remove stubborn dirt from the probe

  • Allow the probe to air dry or alternatively wipe it carefully with a soft cloth

CORRECT USE OF DISINFECTANT

  • Use only tested and approved disinfectants

  • Follow the manufacturer’s instructions

  • Protect the connector from any kind of liquid spillage or splashes. Otherwise electronic components could be damaged.

  • With TEE probes, special care is required due to the IT coating. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning.
